Week # 4 had the MHA Whalers hosting Truro Bearcats on Saturday. With both Ben MacQueen and Ozzie King both having two goal games the win was not easy, but it was secured (assists to Luke Henman and Tyus MacSween) with a final score of 4-2. With both Ben MacQueen and Ozzie King both having two goal games the win was not easy, but it was secured (assists to Luke Henman and Tyus MacSween) with a final score of 4-2. Jacob Gibbons-Cook was back in the nets and made 20 saves enroute to his 2nd win in as many starts this season.
On Sunday the MHA Whalers traveled to Halifax to play, for the first time this season, the league leading Bubba Ray''s Gulls. After falling behind 2-0 early in the 1st period the Whalers began to work their way back into the game. Luke Henman got things started (assists to Ozzie King and Ben MacQueen) late in the first. Early in the 2nd Jared McIsaac tied it up (assist to Luke Henman) on the power play. Early in the 3rd Jared McIssac scored what would be the game winning goal, going bar down on a slapshot from the blue line. Three minutes later Tyus McSween would be awared a penalty shot and he made no mistake, giving the MHA Whalers a 4-2 lead. Late in the 3rd Ozzie King scored his first of the game (assists to Jared McIsaac and Luke Henman) to give the MHA Whalers the final 5-2 win.
Cole McLaren made 16 saves enroute to the win, picking up his fourth win of the season.
The Whalers (and NSMBHL) are off next weekend due to the Atlantic Challenge Cup being held in Moncton. MHA Whalers participating are AJ Guildford, Jared McIsaac and Luke Henman on the HNS U14 team and Brock McLeod on the HNS U15 team. Best of luck boys in Moncton!
